Model drift

How do you keep an AI system working well after launch?

AI systems can quietly get worse after launch — the underlying model changes, the questions people ask change, or small edits pile up. You can’t prevent that, but you can catch it early. We lock the AI model to a known version, re-test the system against the same fixed set of questions on every update and every day, and raise an alert the moment the results slip. Every system we build passes nine checks before it goes live and stays watched afterwards.

There are three usual causes. The AI provider changes the model behind the scenes; the kind of questions coming in changes; or many small prompt edits add up. Each one has its own early-warning check.

Treat a model upgrade like any other release: test it first, then switch — never find out from your customers.

Never change the test set to make a failing result pass. The moment you do, you lose the yardstick that made it useful.
